At present, Rajdhanis, the fastest running trains on this corridor, have a maximum speed of 120 kmph. DFC managing director R K Gupta said the dedicated lines for freight will decongest the existing tracks. He added that this will increase average speed of freight trains from the present 25 kmph to 75 kmph. He said transit time would come down by half (for example Mumbai-Delhi in 24 hours). Latest Shatabdi train leave today from Chandigarh and Delhi

Railway Minister On Sunday, he announced a third Shatabdi train between Chandigarh and Delhi.
The train will start running from January to ease the passenger rush on the 265-kilometer route.

The first and second Shatabdi leaves at 6.50 am and 7.30 am, the proposed will leave Chandigarh at 12.30 pm.

Soon it will boast of multi-level parking lot, food court, large waiting halls, prepaid taxi booth, better toilets, expansion of ticket booking counters, and even wi-fi connectivity.

There will  be four escalators will be installed at the station to help the passengers an easy crossover to the adjacent platform.
